Nuri Ateş, the Police Chief of Kemal Serhadlı Police Academy, Adana, (Polis Meslek Yüksekokulu, Adana) Turkey provides an exegesis of family policing that challenges traditional, classic policing and makes crime prevention the centrepiece of the twenty-first century policing with local communities as the heart and soul of the partnership between the police and the public.
The Family Police Project piloted in Erzincan, Turkey under the leadership of Erzincan Police Chief, Dr. Ahmet Çimen, between January 2008 and August 2009 marks the first, and unparallel Public Relations Campaign ever mounted by any Police Force in Turkey to empower the general public.
