Framing Experience Through Language Awareness

Paul A. Silva

Abstract

Language awareness in TESOL encompasses understanding the historical evolution of English, phonological concepts, and accent variation. This part explores how English has been shaped by socio-political forces and linguistic influences, offering educators insights into the dynamic nature of the language. Educators can enhance students' pronunciation skills and cultural awareness by addressing place and manner of articulation, rhythm, stress, intonation, and various English accents.
